19th-century ichthyology print: barracuda and red mullet in vivid scientific detail.
Order Your Vintage Fish Print: Barracuda & Red Mullet, 1840s d'Orbigny Natural History
Make it yours—pick a size and finish and add this vintage fish study to your wall. The artwork shows two meticulously rendered species from a 19th‑century natural history plate: a sleek, emerald‑green sphyraena at the top with needlelike jaws and a forked tail, and a richly colored red mullet below, its copper scales, coral fins, and delicate barbels glowing on an ivory ground. Fine engraved lines, subtle shading, and crisp French and Latin captions give it a clean, scholarly charm.

What Our Customers Say
Thanks for the fast shipping. It arrived just in time for the 18th birthday! :)
Over the years, I have used the free software with full satisfaction, but now I have purchased the professional edition of Foto-Mosaik-Edda. It works wonderfully, I almost lack the imagination to create beautiful artworks. (I have meanwhile gathered a collection of 171 types of Tiles.)
Delivery time was very short! The quality of the product and the packaging were very good.
Premium Materials:
You’ve got materials for every look. The poster comes silk‑matte with UV protection. Framed prints arrive in a solid wood frame in black, white, or natural, ready to hang. Canvas is stretched on a sturdy 2 cm frame for a gallery feel. Acrylic delivers glossy depth and crisp detail. Alu‑Dibond offers a sleek, rigid finish with UV‑laminate. Foam board is lightweight, stable PVC—great for easy mounting.
Your Artwork
in just a few steps

Use the live preview to check cropping and margins, select your frame color if you go framed, and confirm your order. Our local print studio produces your piece with premium inks and ships it safely to you, ready to hang.

About the motif in detail: this is a natural history illustration from the 1840s, linked to the Dictionnaire Universel d’Histoire Naturelle. It presents Poissons with two labeled species, Sphyraena above and Mullus barbatus below. You’ll notice the precise scale patterning, the gradient washes from sea‑green to silver, and the warm reds and oranges of the mullet’s fins. Plate annotations and typography are preserved for a museum‑style look.

Shipping Method: Standard
We aim to use our resources as efficiently and eco-friendly as possible, so it takes up to three business days to produce your picture. After that, the picture will be shipped via standard delivery the next day. The shipping time by the delivery service usually takes between one to five business days (for bulky goods, such as large canvas/acrylic/Dibond formats).
Shipping Method: Express
Like with standard shipping, we aim to optimize production capacities for express shipping
and minimize excessive waste and constant switching between different product types.
Therefore, we allow up to three business days for production. After production,
the picture is shipped express and should arrive the next day. The costs are passed
directly to you without any markup.
Note: Express shipping is unfortunately not available for certain products – you can see if it is available in the cart.
Shipping Method: Priority Express
With Priority Express, or express production, we pause ongoing production
for a product type and prioritize your picture for same-day production
(if the order is received before 8:00 AM). As this interrupts our workflow,
it incurs a significant additional effort for us. This effort is charged
with an express production surcharge. After production, your picture is express
shipped and should arrive the next day.
Note: Priority Express shipping is unfortunately not available for certain products – you can see if it is available in the cart.
Payment Options
We make payment easy. Choose from a wide range of payment options, including payment by invoice, PayPal, credit card, and more. Our shop requires no registration or customer account. Pay in just a few clicks, and we'll start producing your personalized artwork.
